The race starts with three stages in Switzerland, and is the longest and most mountainous so far, featuring a crucial 20km individual time trial as well as a daunting summit finish atop Mount Ventoux. Last year’s champion, Pauline Ferrand-Prévot of Visma | Lease a Bike, has focused her entire season on this moment and arrives with a stronger-than-ever team including the legendary Marianne Vos. Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney of CANYON//SRAM looks to extend her unbroken podium streak in four appearances, including the overall General Classification win in 2024. The 2026 TDF Femmes begins with several flat to rolling stages, which typically result in bunch sprints or breakaways battling it out from a small group. With CANYON//SRAM and Visma | Lease a Bike firmly focused on the overall GC competition, the teams will rely on the Eclipse Pro as their helmet of choice for optimized aerodynamics to save energy but stay comfortable when racing 3 to 5 hours. The winningest female rider of all time, Visma | Lease a Bike’s Marianne Vos, is also keen to regain the Green Jersey of Points Leader she won in 2024.

TDF Femmes is almost certain to be decided in the mountains, where the screaming crowds, sweltering heat, and legendary summits combine for the ultimate test of tactics and climbing prowess. Both Visma | Lease a Bike and CANYON//SRAM rely on the Aries Spherical for alpine stages, when its amazing low weight and ventilation optimized for the relatively low speeds found on long climbs may give them the winning edge they need. Stage 4 from Gevrey-Chambertin to Dijon is a flat, individual time trial where each racer battles solo against the clock. The Tour de France Femmes is one of the three “Grand Tours” of cycling, with the Giro d’Italia Women and La Vuelta Femenina as the other two. It is the most prestigious, and this will be the 4th edition of the race in its current form. The course covers a variety of terrain around different regions in Switzerland and France.
How long is the race?
The race is 9 days long, and racers will cover 1,175 km (730 mi) with 18,795 metres (61,660 ft) of
elevation gain.
