American team claims first Tour win, World Champion Thor Hushovd claims yellow jersey

(July 3, 2011, Les Essarts, France) Team Garmin-Cervélo has won Stage 2 of the Tour de France. A 23km team time trial, the flat stage was a true test of teamwork and aerodynamics and Garmin-Cervélo, wearing custom Giro time trial helmets, finished ahead of the other 21 teams with a time of 24:48. Following his strong 3rd place on stage 1, World Champion Thor Hushovd moves into 1st Overall GC and claims the coveted maillot jaune.

Giro relies on feedback from top professionals like Team Garmin-Cervélo to develop and refine new products. In addition to Garmin-Cervélo, Giro helmets were worn by Team Radio Shack, who placed 5th on the stage in the new Selector TT helmet. Combining a built-in eye shield with a self-adjusting fit system and an adjustable lower tail section that optimizes the helmet to match the rider’s back, the Selector is a revolution in the aero helmet category.
