Welcome to the new road

In record numbers, more people are hopping on two wheels for sport, exercise, transportation, and just for the fun of it. Whatever you ride, wherever you ride it, your clothes should bring you closer to the experience. Pioneering in its spirit, giro new road is a truly first-of-its-kind performance collection designed for people who define their rides in terms of an attitude and a spirit of exploration. Riders who embrace their bikes as transport, tool and ticket to freedom. Riders like you.

The New Road Story See the Product

Riding is more than just a race

Bikes are bigger than any one style. There are as many kinds of riders as there are styles of riding. In the past, a racing kit defined most cycling apparel options. But modern riders demand clothes that work the way they ride, clothes for the road, trail, path and park—sometimes all in the same day. Clean-lined, multidimensional and ready to ride, new road is designed for the way you ride, however you describe it.

Why not change the uniform of speed?

Fit. Fabric. Fabrication. When these things work in harmony, clothing transforms from simple material into a passport to new experiences. The new road collection is inspired by american heritage. Soft, textured fabrics from before the era of uniform finishes. Simple silhouettes that perform across a range of environments while maintaining understated style. New road clothing is designed and made for the ride, whatever its pace, look or final destination.

Sewn In California Sewn In California.

Creating cycling clothes in a new way means looking at where they are manufactured. Sewn in our home state, the california collection takes its name from where it’s made. Its domestic production creates jobs, keeps money in the community, reduces the environmental impact of shipping and brings us closer to the process in every way. It’s more than the tangible benefits, though, that make the difference. The “sewn in california” tag tells a story, and it’s one we’re proud of.

Merino wool: the original technical fabric

Merino wool is not a new performance fabric. It’s the original performance fabric. Merino’s refined look and ability to perform at the highest levels, without compromising its aesthetic appeal or comfort, sets it apart from every synthetic fabric on the market. Merino also lends itself to a tailored approach to fit and fabrication, something that’s at the heart of the new road viewpoint.

    The Giro System Zip

The System Zip is found on most of our jackets and jerseys. It allows easy access to rear storage pockets built into our Bib UnderShort. This unique approach keeps ride essentials secure and close to the body and delivers a true blend of storage functionality and clean aesthetics.

Invisible details, undeniable performance

Good design is invisible until it’s needed, and then it should surprise with its efficiency. The new road collection was created to work together holistically, yet every item performs on its own. Specific features like the system zip keep ride essentials secure, with zippered access ports to inner layers for no-hassle access to your gear. Structured seam tape keeps merino wool in shape when stowing gear in jersey pockets. Shoulder vents take advantage of forward motion to keep you cool. Bib shorts feature a working fly. • FAST COMPANY

For 20 years the Giro logo was most famously seen emblazoned across professional racers' helmets. Now Giro is going civilian with New Road apparel, a line of high-end sports gear disguised as commuter garb.

If your ride around town is far enough to work up a sweat, but you don't dig the Lycra look of most bike wear, consider the Giro 3/4 Sleeve Bonded Ride Shirt.

    Prolly is Not Probably

I’ve had hands on experience with many of these pieces and I’m very impressed with the concept and construction. While they look like casual silhouettes, these jerseys are part of an innovative design that allows you to access pockets on the bib “briefs”.

When no one was looking, I stole a pair of Giro New Road 40M Tech Overshort samples and tucked them into my suitcase. I’ve worn them off-road and on-road. I’ve worn them to bed. And I absolutely love them.

    VeloNews

Giro has been bold; it wants to shift the clothing paradigm away from the skin-tight and towards the all-around comfortable. It wants to make riders look great at their coffee stops without ruining the ride to and from. For that alone, we give them a heap of credit.

    Gear Patrol

If you’re going to climb on a bicycle and tear up some terrain, you’re going to want to first don appropriate gear — the best, most protective and comfortable out there (this has been, and will always be, our concern, dude).

But the gear itself is unique, and as Giro established, is clearly within its own category. It’s not commuter, it’s not for the fixie set, and with a slightly more tailored design, it’s not aimed at mountain bikers.

The collection...was created with a new culture of riders in mind - think less Lycra and more Merino wool. It's split into two sets, one designed for 5-mile jaunts around town and another for 40-mile performance rides, both with an eye toward apparel that can be worn on and off the bike.
