The snowboard competitions getting underway this week at the 2013 X Games will see the competitive debut of Giro’s revolutionary Combyn™ helmet.
The Combyn™ boasts an industry-first softshell construction, with a flexible outer shell wrapped around a soft, two-layer Vinyl Nitrile (VN) foam. Unlike traditional expanded-polystyrene (EPS) or expanded-polypropylene (EPP) helmet liners, the soft VN material in the Combyn™ is designed to withstand repeated impacts.
Softshell construction has enabled Giro to deliver a helmet with a comfortable and flexible fit with unmatched durability, a significant benefit in the park and pipe where repeated impacts are part of the sport.
Professional athletes who are anticipated to compete in the Combyn™ at the X Games include:
Torin Yater Wallace
The Combyn™ will be available in August 2013.
