New all-mountain and multi-purpose trail shoes build on commercial and critical success of footwear line, providing a better connection to the pedals for more riders.
Building on industry-leading growth in footwear sales since launching in 2011, Giro, the cycling world’s design leader, will expand its footwear line with four new shoes debuting in Fall 2012. Building on a foundation of rave reviews for superior fit, performance and value, Giro will introduce two new all-mountain shoes, the Jacket™ and Chamber™; and two multi-purpose shoes, the men’s Rumble™ women’s Petra™, for riders who want more versatile, walkable cycling shoes.
“Before we entered the performance footwear category, we did our homework, listened to dealers and made sure we would be able to create shoes worthy of Giro’s reputation as the leader in design, performance and fit engineering,” said Eric Richter, Giro Senior Brand Manager. “The overwhelmingly enthusiastic response we received, along with the growth of our business, are proof of the market’s desire for better cycling shoes across the board. With our new Chamber™ and Jacket™ models, all-mountain and gravity-driven riders will have access to a shoe developed with input from Aaron Gwin and built from the ground up to meet their needs without compromise. And for recreational trail riders, our new Rumble™ and Petra™ multi-purpose shoes offer great pedaling efficiency, walking stability and supportive fit at a lower weight than many comparable designs.”
Giro’s footwear range includes a full line of men’s and women’s road, tri and off-road offerings, and is now the 5th largest cycling shoe brand in North America, with the fastest growth in share. The line has been eagerly received by the pro athletes like Taylor Phinney and Marco Pinotti, who each won stages at the Giro d’Italia this year, as well as consumers and specialty retailers. Positive reviews continue to circulate in the media, ranging from Outside magazine and Bike Magazine, to Bicycling magazine, the largest circulation cycling publication in the world, which awarded the Giro Factor™ the 2011 Editors’ Choice award.
