Giro brings proven style and technology of footwear line to triathlon with Mele™ Tri and Facet™ Tri

Giro, the cycling world’s design leader since 1985, launched today the Mele™ Tri and Facet™ Tri shoes, bringing the proven success of their footwear line to the fast-growing triathlon market. Featuring specific lasts for men and women respectively, the Mele™ Tri and Facet™ Tri will retail for $199 and be available to consumers mid-April 2012.

For their first triathlon shoes, Giro didn’t stop with standard tri-specific features like highly breathable uppers and a wide opening and broad upper strap, but included small details like an integrated scuff guard at the heel and a looped heel pull with a smaller secondary loop for anchoring the shoe to the crank. Both Mele™ Tri and Facet™ Tri feature Giro’s acclaimed SuperNatural Fit footbed with adjustable arch support and Aegis™ anti-microbial treatment. For stiffness, low stack height and minimal weight, the Mele™ Tri and Facet™ Tri both feature stiff Easton® EC70 composite outsoles that provide efficient power transfer without compromising comfort.
